What's new with Child Advocacy Centers of WI
Helping Keep Wisconsin Children Safe
A Review of Services Provided in the First Half of 2008
In the first half of 2008, child advocacy
centers in Wisconsin served 1,399
children.  
This puts CACs on track to
serve six percent more children in 2008
than in 2007.

The majority of these children served
so far this year --
59% -- were
suspected to be victims of sexual
abuse.  T
hirty-five percent were
suspected victims of physical abuse
and t
he remaining children were victims
o
f or witnesses to other possible
crimes,
including child neglect and
domestic violence.


These children were suspected to have
been abused by 1
,388 different
offenders.

In the first half of 2008
, 929 children
received forensic interview services at
child advocacy centers, and 8

children received medical exams.  Child
advocacy centers in Wisconsin also
provided counseling to 1

and referred 4

to counseling.
